An introduction to alpacas and our fabulous farm trek.

When you arrive, enjoy a professional introduction to the life of alpacas on our farm, followed by a safety and prep briefing before you commence your trek on our farm with a stunning alpaca on a lead.

Your trek will flow through our farm, alongside and through paddocks with our herd all watching on, so you can play spot the colours, or count all the new born crias! We are based below Slieve Croob, so the scenery will compete with the cuteness of the alpacas all around you!

We are very happy for people to share the alpaca experience. Lots of combinations are provided when booking. You can add more adults and children as our family/group flexible booking option, where under 2 year olds are not counted as part of the costed party - we are very family friendly, just like our alpacas!

A maximum of two adults per alpaca, or two adults within a family booking is applied. Children must be 12 or over to lead an alpaca.

When you get back to the paddocks at our Alpaca Space, you can enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee as you linger in the Meet 'n Greet paddock for selfies and fun with lots of farm inhabitants, and also spend some time in our alpaca store where you can purchase mementos of your day, or some stunning alpaca scarves, Herdies, keepsakes, socks, yarn, patterns and lots more!

Not ready to leave? -  Simply add either a picnic space or in the birthing season a Cria Watch experience to your visit - more fabulous fleecy time on the farm!

Remember - suitable footwear and clothing for field/paddock conditions - sun cream and hats for the summer weather we all hope to get, coats and wellies for the days we are all too used to with damp conditions!

Enjoy an amazing alpaca experience with Ireland's largest herd

Our main alpaca trek route is through fields and pastures, and as such, is not suitable for wheelchair users or for prams. No one loses out, though, as our pastures surrounding the Alpaca Space are all accessible, and our picnic tables are all wheelchair user accessible too!

Set age for an alpaca trek walker with an alpaca is from age 12 upwards, although a younger child may accompany a trekking adult but not be leading an alpaca, and always under supervision on the trek. Younger children must be booked as part of the family / group ticket for 4 in the group, where under 2s are free and not counted in the total of 4 - ALL under 18s MUST be accompanied by an adult in any booking.

We are based in Northern Ireland – our weather is a mix of everything and what looks very sunny when you set out from home may be different by the time you reach our farm. Coats, wellies and/walking boots are definitely recommended so that you can forget about getting cold or muddy, and concentrate on meeting our fabulous alpacas. No flip flops, heeled footwear or bare feet allowed!

Suitable footwear and clothing for field/paddock conditions - suncream and hats for the summer weather we all hope to get, coats and wellies for the days we are all too used to with damp conditions!

We insist, no matter what experience you are booking with us, that any under 18 year olds will be accompanied by a supervising adult from the same family/booking group on the farm at all times.

Please arrive on time for your activity – especially in the case of our Talk ‘n Trek, we will not be able to hold up a  group if you are late, and late arrivals who miss their experience will not be entitled to a refund or a reschedule of your booking.

Appropriate behaviour in our animals homes!

When you visit our farm, you are guests in our animals home, and we ask for respect and tolerance to be exhibited at all times.

Alpacas are incredibly friendly and inquisitive animals, but everyone can get spooked sometimes! We ask that all children and adults act sensibly, and take personal responsibility to act within the safety guidelines that will be detailed at the start of your experience. Mourne Alpacas Ltd will not be responsible for any issue arising as a result of inappropriate or incorrect handling, actions or behaviour by visitors to our facilities. All visitors are asked to adhere to the proper implementation of the information given during the arrival behaviour and safety briefing. All children under the age of 18 remain the responsibility of their group related adults at all times. No standing, shouting or running behind alpacas or other animals, and no rough behaviour or volume will be tolerated.

We reserve the right to refuse entry to the farm, or to ask anyone considered to be acting inappropriately towards our animals, our guests and our farm personnel to leave immediately, with no refunds or re-bookings considered.

Mourne Alpacas reserves the right to make a judgement for everyone's enjoyment on the appropriate weather conditions in our pastures on the day of your booked experience.

Weather check is made at 8pm on the evening before any and all of our active experience days, and in the event that we decide that the weather will not make for a pleasant or safe experience for everyone, you will be contacted by WhatsApp or text in order to arrange a replacement date for your experience. Alternate dates or a credit with Mourne Alpacas will be made available in the case of weather related cancellations by Mourne Alpacas team, and no refunds will be offered in these cases.
